Scholarships
The chapter has been awarding scholarships since 1993. In the last five years, the Chapter has awarded $97,000 in scholarships to outstanding students – both academically and in the community. This year we awarded seven $2000 NDIA scholarships, two $2000 SGT Paul Fisher scholarships, and a $2000 STEM scholarship. (Click here for award ceremony information)

Recipients of the academic year 2014-2015 NDIA scholarships are:

Brad Bavery – Brad is the son of Floyd Bavery. Brad resides in Stronghurst, IL. Upon graduation from West Central High School, he plans to enroll at Truman State University in the fall. He plans to major in computer science. | |

Marissa Carius – Marissa is the daughter of Mark and Siri Carius. The family resides in Coal Valley. Upon graduation from Moline High School, she will enroll at Luther College. Marissa plans to become a speech pathologist. | |

Rachel Clay – Rachel is the daughter of Mickey and Susie Clay. The family resides in Davenport. Upon graduation from Assumption High School, Rachel will enroll at the University of Iowa where she will major in pre-med. |

Jessica Darland – Jessica is the daughter of Timothy Darland. The family resides in Cedar Rapids. Upon graduation from Cedar Rapids Kennedy High School, she will enroll at Iowa State University where she plans to major in journalism with a focus on photojournalism. |

Miranda Hale – Miranda is the daughter of Lisa Hale. The family resides in Long Grove, IA. Upon graduation from North Scott High School, Miranda will enroll at Northwestern University where she plans to pursue a degree in Communication with a focus in Radio/Television/Film. |

Alexander Karnish – Alexander is the son of Thomas and Diane Karnish. The family resides in Donahue, IA. Upon graduation from North Scott High School, he will enroll at Iowa State University where Alexander plans to major in biology. | |

Cameron Pugh – Cameron is the son of Frank and Wanda Holley. The family resides in Davenport. Upon graduation from Davenport Central High School, he will enroll at the University of Northern Iowa where he will major in Physical Therapy. |
SGT Paul Fisher Scholarship Recipients
Academic Year 2014 – 2015
In 2005, the Iowa- Illinois chapter established two scholarships in memory of Sergeant Paul Fisher from Cedar Rapids, IA. SGT Fisher, a flight engineer with Company F, 106th Aviation, deployed to Iraq in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom. The CH-47 Chinook helicopter that he was aboard was shot down by a missile west of Baghdad. He sustained multiple injuries and later died.
SGT Fisher was a quiet man that believed actions spoke louder than words. He was a man who lived with truth, honor, and respect. He knew hard work was the key to your own success. May we always remember the sacrifices he made so that our journey in life can be paved with freedom.

Ashley Beausoleil – Ashley is the daughter of Major Paul and Amy Beausoleil. The family resides in Bettendorf. Upon graduation from Bettendorf High School, she will enroll at Gonzaga University in the fall. She plans to major in biology. | |

Thomas Holliday – Tom is the son of Eric and Teresa Holliday. The family resides in Blue Grass. Upon graduation from Muscatine High School, he will enroll at Iowa State University in the fall and plans to major in political science and minor in Asian studies. |
NDIA Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) Scholarship Academic Year 2014 – 2015
Beginning in the 2010-2011 Academic Year, the IA-IL Chapter teamed with the Quad Cities Engineering and Science Council (QCESC) to leverage QCESC's existing scholarship selection/award process for STEM type students. This allowed the Chapter to maintain its existing broad non-curriculum specific scholarship award process while being able to sponsor, through QCESC, a scholarship directly targeted to a student pursuing a STEM career. Promotion and strengthening of STEM in the workforce is considered a National Security issue and a focus area of NDIA.
The recipient this year of the NDIA sponsored STEM scholarship was Darci Dietrich, pictured on the left. She is the daughter of Shane and Joyce Dietrich. She plans to enter the Engineering program at the University of Illinois.More information
